Reynolds Number of Fluid Flow Through Packed Bed

This tool calculates the Reynolds Number (Re) of fluid flowing through a packed bed. Packed bed Reynolds number can be used in heat and mass transfer calculations. It is also used in detrmination of flow regime in the packed bed. Re less than 10 is considered laminar, Re between 10 and 2000 is in the transition regime and Re greater than 2000 is fully turbulent flow.

Type the required values to get the Reynolds number:

Sphere equivalent particle diameter of Packing (dp, m)

Bed porosity (ε)

Fluid viscosity (µ, kg/ms)

Fluid Density (ρ, kg/m3)

Superficial velocity (U, m/s) [cross-sectional average fluid velocity]

Reynolds Number (Re)
